Healing the Workplace Culture

It appears that millions of people are awakening to a shift in consciousness like the world has never known.  The faith in this vision for a new world is breathtakingly beautiful as so many people commit to a new realm of peace and harmony.

My focus for the last 14 years has been the workplace:  an invisible prison where so many people spend three fourths of their waking hours. Today’s workplace is web of egos with managers disempowering employees and co-workers hurting and sabotaging one. It is fraught with paranoia, gossip, greed, one-ups-manship, and fear. And yet, so great is the fear that most people are unable to admit, let alone, make the changes necessary to create a new workplace culture.  They simply suffer and compete, seeking power and validation, along with economic security for themselves and their families.

I believe the workplace goes unrecognized as an arena in dire need of healing. As a business consultant for an extensively wide variety of industries, I became aware of the internal competition and lack of compassion and respect for one another in most businesses today.  The model of top down dictates and ego-driven leadership is an old method that suppresses humans and depletes their energy.

In January of 2000, I was awakened and given this purpose to help bring clarity to people who are caught in the current business model. This message is about rebuilding relationships in the workplace by honoring the spirit in ourselves and in others that resides beneath our self-created identities, which battle and compete for power and validation. This shallow interpretation of ourselves, a shabby imitation we have come to believe is true, belies our incredible authentic power. One day, when fear can be replaced with trust and compassion for one another, there will be a shift in consciousness. People everywhere will be restored to their true identities, their inner spiritual greatness intended by the Creator. To that end, I am dedicated.

Part of my message to business groups is the amazing and uplifting power of people working together with trust and compassion.  In contrast, rivalry in the workplace feeds on insecurity and is accelerated by the desire to be appreciated, combined with the fear of failure or humiliation. People attempt to expel the pain by blaming, attacking or gossip, but it only leads to greater rivalry, competition and jealousy. Few people can withstand the discomfort and pain of being
criticized,  attacked and blamed by a boss or co-worker. The feeling is literally that of being stabbed and deeply wounded.

Blaming, attacking and holding a figurative “gun”’ at someone else gives the individuals doing it a false sense of superiority and/or safety. They do not feel the pain they cause in others when they are in the attack mode. But much like real wars between nations, the sense of triumph is short-lived because there is always another enemy. It is time to put down all our weapons—literally and figuratively.

This passage of time is about freedom and deliverance from the chains that have bound us. The only answer to unlocking these gridlocks is to finally stop and look within to find the source of the pain. But we resist looking within because we are afraid of opening up a dirty little secret—that we are not worthy. However, maintaining this belief and holding up this wall of protection takes a lot of energy and causes more pain. It is quite literally exhausting. The truth is that we are more powerful than any of our ego defense mechanisms and self-worth will never be found in perpetuating drama. However, the workplace drama can be so compelling it is difficult to step out of it without a helping hand.

I have been speaking and conducting workshops on Enlightened Leadership and Harmony in the Workplace for a variety of conventions and businesses.  I believe I am an example of individuals in isolated pockets and individual businesses striving to bring about a shift in the workplace stage. Joining with others who share these principles could have a massive effect on the overall shift in consciousness our planet is going through. Working with people to restore trust and compassion for one another will elevate the energy level of every individual and business community to better serve the world.

I also believe that the truly great leaders, those who operate as enlightened leaders, possess the traits of humility, integrity, compassion and a vision that benefits all people—not just those at the top.  Most leaders in businesses today do not understand these qualities, and instead, operate from their own egos seeking status, wealth, and superiority over those they lead.  As leaders one by one, place a fixed eye on their own fears, wounds, and weaknesses, they will allow their authentic leadership qualities to emerge. This process applies to not only the corporate world, but the world leaders who determine the fate of our planet. As compassion arises, peace will become a reality.
