Nancy B. Roof, Ph.D., Founder and Editor Emeritus of Kosmos Journal, passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on September 29th, 2025. Nancy’s presence continues through the ongoing work of Kosmos Journal, the communities she helped inspire, and the countless hearts she awakened.

Our long-term vision has not changed over all these years. What has changed is how different aspects of the vision come and go into awareness.
Our Mission calls us to develop new skills and capacities—to make practices such as mindfulness central to mastery over our emotions and thoughts, not only for peace of mind, but as a responsibility to others who are affected by our moods and thoughts, as neuroscience research now affirms.
If we are truly transforming and not just reforming it means achieving a delicate balance. It is, indeed, an art to let go of old personal habits, old institutional structures, and old stories that inhibit the growth of life that wants to flow freely and create anew.
Awakening to life and becoming such a channel can often ask unexpected things in our own evolution. Along the way, somewhat like the butterfly in metamorphosis, we cannot yet see what we are becoming.
