All things apposite
not opposite,
birth emergent out of universe
that reaches always for transcendence
without ever leaving immanence.
Natality easing into life-consciousness,
body in soul, never soul confined to body,
ecumenicity ensuring cosmic inclusiveness,
catholicity providing whole earth identity,
protestation keeping boundaries open,
pentecostal fire retaining en-thusiasm,
orthodoxy securing tentative limits,
heterodoxy escape from dogma,
friends awed by inspiration,
and good faith, in all faiths,
offering love, passed on, not back;
pastors as prophets
and prophets pastors too,
in cyclical ceaseless creativity
gift of life eternal.

 

CODA

 

Language
being only mundane metaphor,
these terms with any other name
hold just as true
to an ineffable unity in totality,
unconfined frame containing all being.

Wider still in cosmic consciousness
dogma and tribalism dissolve,
penetrating poetry assumes their place;
universal wisdom seeks in sacred quest,
Buddhist liberation from compulsive obedience,
Judaic authenticity of story-telling and community,
Christian incarnation of divine compassion,
Islamic value in discipline, surrendering to mystery,
Hindu celebration of diversity,
Bahai conviction in waging peace,
Sufi power of inner awakening,
Jain perception, knowledge and conduct;
all in all a wondering at earth’s patterns,
birthing a renewed Earth Jurisprudence
a contemporary form of Universal Wisdom,
ineffable ‘God’.

 

 

PLANET MANAGEMENT

 

The Kin[g]dom
of God is the economy,

the constant
emergence and

replenishment
of the gift

of life from
earth:

born of big
bang,

formed from
stardust, energised

in time, as
sea, soil and flesh.

 

To say ‘I am
not an economist’ undermines

true love of
this planetary home,

making way
for human hubris,

that affirms
the conceit

that economy
is for experts

regardless
of lay questions

about why
injustice reigns.

 

Welby and
Wonga

is a
romantic engagement

hinting at
wedding bells;

sacred and
secular in competitive love

testing the
scene for reconciliation

not for
radical global correction

of deep
design faults.

 

Dox without
its Para, half-truths

making truth
evermore remote, 

rightly seeking responsibility with money

as a
commodity holding value in itself;

when it must
only truly be, a means

of just
transaction sharing risk and reward.

Responsible and radical is the paradox.

 

Culturally
we fashion palliatives,

easing the
pain and passage

of a dying
species, yet

never in
that way curing

insidious
exploitation

creeping
through the man made

distortion
of creation’s planetary economy.

 

UNIVERSALITY

 

Go beyond nationality,
religious difference or belief,
and remember the still, silent presence,
where everything is united.
That space is the same
in cities or fields,
up mountains or in valleys,
in work, study or play,
in fortune or adversity,
in peace or conflict;
so that wherever YOU are,
life is entrusted to your care.
Thank universe.

INEVITABLE IN EDEN

 

Just suppose
in every rosy apple,
eaten in need or greed,
was ingested
a deadly cancer at its core.

 

So in fact,
in every trade exchange,
made in good faith or in ill,
is ingrained

ever present abuse of mutuality,
the insidious justification
of usury,
destroying society at its core.

emergent evolution.

This is the
secret of life on earth, now

endangered
by enclosure and individuation,

competition
and commodification..

 

This psychic
war rampant in modernity

will only
dissolve in dialogue, not argument,

with
tolerance for ambiguity,

convictions
always held tentatively,

dogmas
discarded for the poetry within

and profound
attention, one to another

in every
encounter,

fine tuned
by engagement.
