CITY-SPECIFIC EVENTS
International Cities of Peace – Over 30 global cities are having Feasts for Peace with each town developing their actions based on community desire, such as ringing bells, moments of silence, music and other expressions. The hope is to have 100 cities by Peace Day. It takes great courage for many of these city leaders and groups, many in war-torn regions, to have a public event about peace. There is a continual update on these two Facebook sites: International Cities of Peace https://www.facebook.com/groups/internationalcitiesofpeace/ and Global Feast for Peace: https://www.facebook.
New York, Sept 19 – 21
People’s Climate March
“In September, world leaders are coming to New York City for a UN summit on the climate crisis. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is urging governments to support an ambitious global agreement to dramatically reduce global warming pollution. With our future on the line and the whole world watching, we’ll take a stand to bend the course of history. We’ll take to the streets to demand the world we know is within our reach: a world with an economy that works for people and the planet; a world safe from the ravages of climate change; a world with good jobs, clean air and water, and healthy communities.”

Dear Nancy, Thanks for sending all this. On the calendar listings of events the entry for Boston links to an old 2012 listing. I suspect everybody in Boston who can will be going to New York. But I’m sure we’d like to know of anything else local. Best wishes, Suzy Pearce, Cambridge, MA
Dear Suzanne,
We are sorry to learn that we published an old link. We received this notices from several people and so we are not sure where it came from.
Thank you for letting us know.
Nancy
Hi! May I also ask if you can include Kites for Peace?
Kites for Peace is a creative response to the deaths of children affected by armed conflict around the world inspired by the kites 13,000 Gazan children flew in 2011 to break a global record. The goal is to empower children from around the world to fly their kites and go beyond the 13,000 by November 20 Universal Children’s Day. The platform uses interfaith ethics education modules to engage conversation and meaningful action in the home, schools, and communities of participating children in terms of what violence means in their own experience and relating it to the bigger conflict in their own countries and other parts of the world.
