November ushers in a season of tender gratitude – for all that is and all that is passing. Many believe we are entering new territory – profound changes humanity must work through in order for rebirth to come. Newcomers to Kosmos express surprise that we have been sharing transformational thinking and hopeful solutions for nearly two decades – work that is needed now more than ever. They are also amazed to learn we accept no advertising, and receive no major grants or sponsorships. Instead, every year at this time, we survive or thrive on one pivot point: you.

Essay | Monarch Butterfly on the Deck

Early evening, calm air, quiet, and as I step onto the kitchen deck, there’s a slight motion to my left: a Monarch butterfly slowly opening and closing his wings is clinging to the small weathered table by my meditation chair. Even with a garden full of milkweed plants in bloom, we’d not seen a single Monarch this year and now, this graceful October gift arrives as the days grow increasingly cold.
Kosmos Partners with OneTreePlanted to Help Restore Forests
Kosmos has partnered with OneTreePlanted once again, so that together with our readers we can offset the carbon cost of printing Kosmos Journal twice a year. In 2018, we have arranged to plant trees in North America, in areas where devastating fires have claimed thousands of acres. Every tree planted helps protect local animals and is vital to maintaining the beauty of our forests.
