Setting the Agenda
October 21, 2014 Kosmos Community News
Dear Readers,
A trilogy of important events is helping define the contours of what we at Kosmos call the emerging global transformation movement. The New Story Summit in Findhorn, Scotland was one of them, and although the Summit has ended, its effects will ripple for some time to come. We are so grateful Kosmos was able to participate in this event. Summit co-organizer Richard Olivier shares his personal reflections on the Summit and the work ahead.
Kosmos is a full media partner in the next agenda-setting gathering: Where We Go From Here, Rebuilding the Collaborative Commons, at Omega Center for Sustainable Living in Rhinebeck, NY – October 24-26. “In many ways the Commons is the foundation of our society. How do we take back and renew this heritage?” We hope you will follow us as we report live from the conference. Details follow.
The third event promises to be truly revolutionary as well! Voices of Hope in a Time of Crisis is an all-day symposium offered by Local Futures, International Society for Ecology and Culture. It’s a wonderful line-up of presenters including Kosmos authors Charles Eisenstein, Adebayo Akomolafe, Judy Wicks, and many more. It will also be the launch of the International Alliance for Localization, a new forum for global collaboration to support place-based solutions on a planetary scale.
“Representing transition towns, eco-villages, small business cooperatives, spiritual communities, seed sharing networks, local currency practitioners, gift cultures, civic society, and new movements across the planet, the International Alliance for Localization (IAL) is a powerful response to the multidimensional crises of our times…a song of new hope. A new story.” – Bayo Akomolafe
Initiatives and events like these give us great hope end encouragement that transformation is indeed occurring at every level of the human story: individual, institutional and collective. We invite you to learn more and join a growing global movement that celebrates all our gifts and requires all our efforts, in harmony with all Life.
Joy to you,
The Kosmos Team

Dear fellow Summiteers,
EVENT: Where We Go From Here Conference
Kosmos Associates Joins Omega Institute as a Media Partner in:
Where We Go From Here Conference – Building the Collaborative Commons
October 24-26
As a global community, we currently face many challenges. We collectively depend on shared resources including clean water, energy, a just economy, access to food and the Internet. However, these assets are threatened by economic, political, and social systems that do not support what’s best for the vast majority of people or the natural world.
VIDEO: The Promise of the Commons
The Promise of the Commons questions the orthodox opinion that only private ownership can protect the ecosystems. It discusses the thoughts and rights of people around the world and shows how landless people are protecting the common heritage of the Earth. How have they lost their basic human rights? We need a profound conversation about this.
EVENT: Voices of Hope in a Time of Crisis, Nov. 8 in NYC
