| WELCOME!
Welcome to the new Kosmos newsletter! We are excited to connect with you in this new way and more frequently than publishing the print journal twice a year usually affords. The primary goal of our newsletters will be to further build our blossoming Kosmos community by engaging with you and sharing inspirational stories of how you as a global citizen can help to usher in the new civilization and how you can serve the global commons.
We also want to introduce you to the expanding work of Kosmos Associates, Inc., a global commons organization dedicated to the global good. Much more than just publishers of the print journal, the Kosmos team actively partners with transnational organizations and thought leaders in a sustained effort to create a better world for the common good. We are excited to tell you more about our work and we want to learn more about you! How do you want to get involved? How do you envision the possibilities of the dawning new civilization?
With our unwaivering commitment to independent journalism - telling the news like it is! - we are already gearing up for the next compelling issue later this year. We'll keep you updated on the ongoing critical developments in global evolution and there will also be much more from James Bernard Quilligan, as he defines the global commons for the first time in Kosmos and how each of us will play an essential role in world betterment.

FREE Digital Issue
We recently expanded to make Kosmos Journal available online. Please tell your friends how they can sample Kosmos by downloading a free issue.
Subscriptions or individual issues may be purchased starting with the Spring/Summer 2008 journal. In particular, we hope that this new subscription option may strongly appeal to our international readership as costly shipping rates can be avoided.
Rest assured, however, that even as we are exerting more effort in these digital ventures with our new e-newsletter and online publishing, we remain committed to producing the print version of the journal. We understand that the aesthetic experience of reading the journal - holding the tangible journal in hand and turning its glossy pages - cannot be duplicated in fleeting pixels and are delighted to hear that readers liken their collection of the whole Kosmos library to grouping pieces of art. |
Waves of Feedback Waves of Change, Spring/Summer 2009
The Spring/Summer 2009 issue, Waves of Change, was mailed earlier this month and we have been graced with stellar feedback about this issue. We appreciate hearing your comments and encourage you to invite friends and colleagues to join you in a discussion group. Make your own waves as a changemaker!
We extend a warm thank you to our wonderful community of subscribers who took the time to email to let us know that their journals had arrived safely and without additional charge. More often than not, these gracious emails also included praise for the content of the new issue. These simple emails are evidence of what an extraordinary community we are building!

Kosmos Goes to Hollywood
Kosmos was recently contacted by John Rååtz, founder of Global Alliance for Transformational Entertainment (GATE) and The Visioneering Group, who discovered Kosmos Journal in a Barnes and Noble. He was so impressed with the aesthetic beauty and transformational message that he called to ask if we would contribute to a gift bag for an exclusive invitation-only event to be held in Hollywood on June 4. We enthusiastically donated 500 gift copies of Waves of Change.
Invitees to this inaugural GATE gathering include producers, directors, actors, and activists who are dedicating their craft to promoting higher consciousness. The evening, which will be hosted by actor and activist Jim Carrey and will feature a keynote address by Eckhart Tolle, will explore how media may be leveraged as an instrument to transform the world. The discussion will focus on how to incorporate deeper, more positive and generative values in media and entertainment to catalyze healthy social change. We are excited about what collaborative opportunities may arise through Nancy's attendance at the event and greater exposure of our work to the entertainment community. Nancy will share her thoughts on the event in an upcoming newsletter. Kosmos warmly applauds John Rååtz and his efforts to build synergistic connections within the entertainment community to inspire humanity. Frame by frame, person by person, we can each strive to become the change we wish to see in the world! |
| Kosmos Uplifts Advertising
In order to stay independent, Kosmos Journal has chosen not to accept advertising or any commercialization of its work. However, we were proud to accept Hazel Henderson's invitation to be one of the judges for the EthicMark award, which seeks to elevate the field of advertising. The 3rd annual EthicMark® Award for Advertising that Uplifts the Human Spirit and Society will be presented by Rinaldo Brutoco, president of the World Business Academy on June 2nd at the opening night banquet of the 2009 Global Forum. The forum will be hosted at Case Western Reserve University's Weatherhead School of Management Center for Business as Agent of World Benefit in partnership with the Academy of Management and the United Nations Global Compact. This award was founded by Hazel Henderson, who is an Advisory Board member of Kosmos. |
| Kosmos Presents at
Globalisation for the Common Good Conference
Nancy will be joined by Kosmos board members John Schmidt (CEO, Avastone Consulting), and Tara Stuart (UN representative and communications professor) in presenting at the 8th annual Globalization for the Common Good conference. The theme of this year's meeting, which will be held in Chicago on the Loyola University campus May 31 - June 1, is 'Globalization: The Challenge to America'. The positives and negatives of America's international policies and actions will be critiqued. The Kosmos trio will discuss the upcoming transitional years as many of our traditional institutions become obsolete and eventually collapse. Carrying with it great hope, a tidal wave of citizen participation is beginning to usher in higher consciousness and inclusive values at an unprecedented rate. An experiential portion of the session will engage participants to develop skills in working towards resolutions of our pressing global challenges. In another conference session, board member, economic expert and frequent Kosmos author James Quilligan, along with fellow global commons pioneers David Martin and David Bollier, will champion the global commons. With their expertise ranging from the proliferation of open-source software to an Integral perspective on economic reform, these three writers are each pushing the edge in their respective fields. Taken together, their work is powerful in its unifying definition of what constitutes the global commons as the third force - along with governance and economics - to change the world for the benefit of all. Each will each share a unique facet of what it means for humanity to rediscover our common wealth. There is still time to register for the conference. We would love to meet you in Chicago! |
