Nancy B. Roof Ph.D., Chairman

Nancy Roof, Ph.D. is President of Kosmos Associates Inc., a partner in the Coalition for the Global Commons and creating the new civilization initiative. She is founding editor of the integral journal on global awakening, Kosmos Journal. In consultative status with ECOSOC at the UN since 1988, she is the Co-founding Chair of the Values Caucus and the Spiritual Caucus at the UN. A member of the President’s Club of the Integral Institute she is also an advisory board member of Ervin Laszlo’s Worldshift University and Media Ambassador to the World Wisdom Council. An international speaker on creating a conscious global civilization and world community, she is a participant in Mikhail Gorbachev’s World Political Forum and a member of the Global Commons Initiative. Nancy Roof, Ph.D. is Founding Editor of the first integral journal on building planetary civilization and world community. Kosmos Journal: An Integral Approach to Global Awakening is based on evolving interior development and cultural values as they impact globalization and global systems. She is media ambassador to the World Wisdom Council, founding partner of the World Wisdom Alliance and a partner in Creating the New Civilization Initiative with the Gorbachev Foundation, Club of Budapest, Goi Peace Foundation and more. Her testimony on the human dimension of the United Nations was distributed to the US President and Congress. She was a founder of Transpersonal Psychology in 1980, designing the first training programs on Eastern Spirituality and Western Psychology. She is a member of the President’s Club of the Integral Institute (Ken Wilber) and linked with Spiral Dynamics and on the Council of the Wise of Integrative Spirituality. Working with 78 international organizations in war zones she wrote the first Workbook on the Impact of War on Service Providers. In consultative status with the United Nations since 1990 where she actively participated in international conferences and lobbied for global standards, she co-founded the Values Caucus in 1994 and the Spiritual Caucus in 2000. She is on the Advisory Board of Ethical Markets, Lifebridge Foundation, Integral Review and WorldShift University with Ervin Laszlo. On the faculty of the Graduate Institute, she is an international speaker on integral approaches to planetary civilization and world community, a founding member of the World Spirit Forum and a participant in Mikhail Gorbachev’s World Political Forum.

James Quilligan

James Quilligan has been an analyst and administra tor in the field of international development since 1975. He has served as policy advisor and writer for many international politicians and leaders, including Pierre Trudeau, François Mitterrand, Edward Heath, Julius Nyerere, Lopez Portillo, Olof Palme, Willy Brandt, and Jimmy Carter. He has been an economic consultant for government agencies in 26 countries, including the United States. He has also served as an advisor for several United Nations programs and international development organizations. Quilligan’s articles, under his own name, or as a ghostwriter for others, have appeared in the International Herald Tribune, the Manchester Guardian, the Christian Science Monitor, the Washington Post, Newsweek, Der Spiegel, the Economist, World Press Review, Tikkun, and other books and publications. He is also a musician and composer.

John Schmidt

John D. Schmidt is the founder and CEO of Avastone Consulting, an international consultancy committed to the vitality and sustainability of client organizations and the larger global community. He serves as advisor to global corporations and non-governmental enterprises, and is a thinker, designer, and practitioner in integral approaches to complex challenges and human development. John is the innovative force behind Avastone’s powerful set of learning experiences that bring to life dimensions and dynamics of leadership. He is dedicated to personal contemplative practice, and spends 25 days per year in retreat.

Tara Stuart

Tara Stuart, Assistant to the Editor, holds an International Associateship degree, equivalent to a US Doctorate of Education, from the University of London, Institute of Education. Tara has a diverse professional background as educator, speaker, author, illustrator and CEO of her own business. She has lived and worked in a variety of cultures and nations which include the Yucatan of Mexico, Switzerland, India, Great Britain, Turkey, Tibet, and South Africa. She was Co-founder of the Hill Center for Psychosynthesis in Education in Walpole, New Hampshire. In cooperation with The School for International Training, Tara and her associates were instrumental in establishing and international education program for gifted high school students in five nations. As a professor she has taught Ethics in Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Intercultural Communication, Advanced Public Speaking, Group Interaction and a Seminar in International Communication. In 2005 Keene State College of the University System of New Hampshire recognized her as Professor of Communication, Emeritus.


Mary Davidson

Director of Development and Alumni Affairs:   Responsible for and successfully raised $2.5 million annually for the annual fund from both alumni and foundations and conducted a capital campaign and successfully raised $15,000,000 in three years.  This position also included the routine output of communications to alumni, the organization of special gatherings for alumni and friends and the general maintenance of all communications with alumni and friends of the school; managed staff of three.
