Nicanor Perlas, 2010 Presidential Candidate for the Philippines

Nicanor Perlas, a dynamic advocate and activist, has altered the course of national and global events over the past 30 years and has influenced the lives of millions. He has organized numerous civil society movements to challenge oppressive structures in the Philippines and to create a more just, sustainable and nuclear-free society. He has worked with UNICEF and UNDP in trade liberalization, sustainability, pesticide-free food, poverty reduction, peace and development, Agenda 21 and more. He has designed and led moral renewal workshops for Hope for Thousands and is the author of Shaping Globalization: Civil Society, Cultural Power and Threefolding. He was the recipient of The Right Livelihood Award in 2003.
